Why is there no single price for a phone screen?
A screen repair is mostly a parts job, and the part is different for every model on the shelf. Two phones the same size, made two years apart, can take assemblies that cost very different money to buy, so a shop quoting one flat figure for all of them is either overcharging the easy repairs or losing money on the hard ones. That is why screens, batteries, charging ports, back glass and water damage work are quoted by model here, confirmed before any work starts, while the jobs that are the same on every machine carry printed figures on our published repair prices page.
What moves the price of a screen repair?
The panel technology comes first. An LCD assembly on an older handset is a cheaper part to buy than an OLED assembly, because OLED panels cost more to produce and the display cannot be separated from the glass in the way an old LCD could. Model generation is next, and it moves the figure further than most people expect, since assemblies for the current flagship carry the newest panel and are in the shortest supply.
Part availability moves the number week to week. A model that sells in volume has a deep supply of assemblies, while a model that sold poorly, or one that just launched, has to be ordered in and priced from what the supplier is asking that day. Some phones are simply awkward to buy for, and no shop can talk a supplier down.
Then there is the state of the phone around the screen. A frame bent by the same drop that cracked the glass has to be trued before a new assembly will sit flat, because a screen pressed onto a twisted frame cracks again at the corner. Where Face ID hardware or a fingerprint reader lives inside the assembly, the original sensor has to be moved across and tested, since those parts are paired to your phone and cannot be substituted. That transfer is bench time, and bench time is part of any real quote.
What does a screen quote include?
Four things, and any quote worth comparing lists all four. The part itself, which is most of the figure. The labor to strip the phone, move the sensors, seat the assembly and reseal it. The testing afterward, which on our bench means display uniformity, touch across the whole panel, and on an iPhone both Face ID and the proximity sensor. And the warranty, because every screen we fit carries a lifetime term on the screen itself while other repairs carry 90 days on parts and labor. What is the difference between a starting price and a quote?
A starting price in an advertisement is the cheapest panel for the oldest model a shop stocks, written before anyone has seen your phone. It is a door opener, and it tells you nothing about your model. A confirmed quote names your handset, the assembly going into it, the labor, the testing and the warranty term, and it does not move once you agree to it.
The gap between those two things is where bad afternoons happen. If a figure you were given over the phone changes when you arrive, ask which of the four parts of the quote changed and why, because a shop that found a bent frame should be able to show you the bent frame.
Does the free diagnostic change the number?
It can, and that is the point of running one. General diagnostics are free, so before a screen is quoted the phone is checked for the faults that travel with a drop: a frame out of true, a loose board connector, a camera knocked off its seat, a battery already at the end of its cycles. A screen fitted over one of those comes back, which serves nobody. Where the fault needs chasing past what a visual check shows, deep diagnostics on a phone are quoted at the counter first.

What should I have ready for a quote?
The make and the model, as exactly as you know it, including the Pro or Plus or Ultra part of the name. Say what happened, because a drop onto concrete and a screen that failed with no impact lead to different checks. Mention any dead area in the touch, any line across the display, and whether the phone has been wet. With that much, a figure comes back the same day and holds when you arrive.
