Drift is a worn potentiometer inside the thumbstick module. Compressed air helps for a week and then stops. The module has to be desoldered and replaced.

A console that gets loud, then hot, then shuts off mid-game has years of dust in the heatsink and thermal paste dried to powder. On a PS5 this is the difference between a jet engine and a quiet console.

Can you fix stick drift on a controller?
